One down, sixteen to go! There are many words to describe the first week, but I think that I can pretty much blanket the majority of this week with the word uneventful. There were quite a bit of readings to do and A LOT of organizing and writing down everything that needs/needed to be done. I think this is the most ready I've ever been for school and the most on top of things I've ever been while in school. Granted, it's week one, and this is just the tip of the iceberg. BUT! I wasn't even really overwhelmed after starting, I was just ultra nervous because of all the anticipation. I haven't even cried yet!! They talked alot about being organized and open minded and that we needed to just 'go with the flow'. We had our first clinical lab skills class last week and I had no idea how much being in St. John Ambulance would help me. We were all doing our ABC's and pain assessment! So it was a nice calming first class for me.
The biggest challenge I'm anticipating is pathophysiology. I've been keeping up with all my readings, but what just dawned on me is the fact that not only do I have to keep up with readings and do my research and my assignments, but I have to make time to study, too! Reading doesn't necessarily equate to studying! So, I am mentally preparing myself.
