Week 8 as a Level 1 Nursing Student

Well this week was ultra low-key. Our clinical instructor has been sick with strep throat and noone was available to supervise us, so we missed clinical again. Our entire group was pretty bummed. Now we're all worried about whether or not we'll make the amount of required clinical hours. On the plus side, we had Tuesday and Wednesday off to do absolutely nothing.

We had our Problem Based Learning (PBL) group skills midterm feedback this week. PBL is a small 10 person group where we work on presentations, communication skills, giving feedback, and other fun stuff. Our group gets along relatively well. These feedback reports were supposed to be super in-depth and detailed. There were about 7 components and we were supposed to talk about strengths, weaknesses, and ways to improve their weaknesses. We also had to use specific examples, which was hard to do, because not very many of us took notes throughout the past 8 weeks. I love giving and receiving feedback. It is a bit challenging at times, though, because you kind of think, "well who am I to tell you what you're doing wrong?" It can get a little uncomfortable at times, but it's done to allow growth in yourself as well as other students. I love it because I really enjoy picking things to bits and I always love hearing about what other ppl have to say about me....even the bad stuff, really! Especially bad stuff because it causes self-reflection, right?

We are officially on spring break now and it's exciting. I plan on doing alot of assignments and getting together with friends. Oh, and eating. Lots. AND BAKING!!!!

Here's to happier days ahead. Days filled with laughter, tears of joy, smiles, and loving family and friends.
